Statement Regarding Donations
WomenShelter of Long Beach (WSLB) assists domestic violence victims and their children by providing safe shelter and supportive services. The mission of WSLB is to eliminate domestic violence through compassionate intervention, education and personal empowerment. We are very appreciative of donations to help us meet our mission and we request that you donate directly to our organization if you want to support us and the work we do. Thank you.

WomenShelter of Long Beach Founder Passes Away
The board of directors and staff of WomenShelter of Long Beach, express our deepest condolences to the family of our shelter's founder, Virginia Beavon Corbett Briggs. 35 years ago, frustrated by the lack of resources available to domestic violence victims, Virginia donated a house, put in 11 beds and opened one of the first domestic violence shelters in Southern California. WSLB has served over 12,000 victims since then.
