The mission of WomenShelter is to help end the cycle of domestic violence through intervention, prevention and education.

Is Domestic Violence Affecting YOUR Family?

Domestic violence isn't contained to one type of family or one type of relationship. It knows no boundary of profession or education; of race, religion or nationality. Ask yourself the following:

• Are you frightened by your partner's temper?
• Does He/She threaten, criticize or humiliate you?
• Have you been pushed, shoved, hit or had things thrown at you?
• Do you have the urge to "rescue" your partner and make excuses for their behavior?
• Do you believe your partner's behavior will change?
• Is He/She apologetic and "good" between physical or verbal outbursts?

If any of the above sounded familiar, it's time to take a good look at your relationship. Violence doesn't have to be a way of life for you or your family.

WomenShelter staff is here to help you with alternatives to violence. You can find counseling, support groups, or a safe place to stay while you think things through. We're here to help you talk through the options and decide which one is best for you. Remember, a phone call is the first step to change.
